I don’t usually do reviews of anything but restaurants or food but the service I received from Exteriors West left me wanting to tell the world so here it goes.
If you could describe Exteriors West with one word it would be “Outstanding” with a capital O.
Dan, who is owner and installer, has got the installation down to a science.
Dan arrived at my home around 8am to install a 16′ X 20′ aluminum patio cover which he flawlessly and meticulously installed by himself and completed around 6:00pm, Including cleanup. He has been doing this work for 25 years now and it shows!
Do you remember the days of great customer service and honesty of business owners in the 50’s? Well there are a few still out there and Dan is one of them. Maybe that is why the Better Business Bureau has given Exteriors West an A+.
He completed the patio cover then proceeded to look over the cover with a fine tooth comb, wiping down the cover removing any finger prints or dirt he saw then he continued to look it over and painting any scratch or blemish with the factory touch up paint. Just this alone took about 45 minutes to an hour this is how meticulous Dan is and what kind of commitment he has to make everything perfect.
When Dan started the job he put down sheets of cardboard and covered my deck with it to protect it. And at the end of the job he swept up his work debris and picked up the cardboard. He then blew off my deck with a leaf blower and picked up any stray garbage. My deck was left cleaner than when he got there.
Then fit and finish of my cover is outstanding! From the planning, selection of materials and construction, Dan has been very patient and full of information and suggestions.
If you need a patio cover, carport, RV cover, railings, window awnings, whether it be residential, commercial or industrial, Exteriors West is the company you want to go with. He said he does jobs all around Washington and told me he had just returned from a commercial job in Oregon.
Sorry if this sound like a commercial but when I find a company that does an outstanding job all the way around, I have to tell someone. And today, you’re that someone.

I normally don’t write reviews unless something really doesn’t meet my expectations. Not the case here, Dan exceeded my expectations enough for me to want to write a review about how great of job he did. We weren’t picky (maybe we were) but we did have something in particular in mind that we wanted to do for our back deck area. Dan not only spent several hours helping us choose the right application but made two trips to our house with a different product that he thought would meet our needs. He contacted the manufacturer and went out of his way to find EXACTLY what we wanted. I agree with the other posters, he left the work area cleaner than he started and was a very honest and genuine person to work with. You get that feeling the first time you meet him, that he takes pride in his business. Something you don’t see enough of these days. My neighbor across the street was so impressed with Dan’s work, he had him come over to his house and install an awning. The only thing I wish I had done differently was to have had the awning installed many years sooner. We have really enjoyed our awning over our deck and have had MANY compliments on it. Also, the ability to BBQ in the rain is the best feature ever!!

I would personally like to brag up and thank dan the owner of exteriors west and kyle for a fantastic product, a fantastic job, fantastic turn around time. My impression from the first phone call to the last details was much better that i my expectations. this guy is a great businessman that cares about the job he performs and needs and wants of his customers. he goes above and beyond to get the job done the right way.
Dan runs his business like you would have expected to see many years back, when people did things honest, fair and the right way. he was able to show and explain several options and price ranges to fit my budget. never once did i feel pressured and i did have a few other local patio cover bids come out that just didn’t jive and wanted arms and legs.
The deck cover is awesome and we are deffinately already getting tons more use out of our deck. i also would like to let it be know that not only did they have my 500 square foot cover up in one day, but the install was also scheduled for sometime in mid february and and he was able to come thru almost 2 weeks early which worked out so much better for us and our own schedules. If you want the best you can get for the right amount of your hard earned dollars, at least give dan a call and hear and see the difference on how customers should be treated in this world we live in today. you will be simply amazed.

Dan is amazing and is definitely as good as it gets for customer service and work ethic. He and his son installed a patio cover at our Mom’s house earlier this spring and it looks wonderful.
There were a couple of support posts needed for a small overhang that he said he would price out when the season starting winding down since it was separate from the cover. When the rains came last week there was a leak and Dan came right out to check out the issue. It seems the leak was caused by clogged gutters above the cover so not even Dan’s problem but he climbed right up, cleaned out the gutters and flushed them to make sure that it truly was the issue.
Above and beyond and much appreciated. He installed the two support posts and “gifted” my Mom with them. What a guy! Great communication, superior customer service and reliability and a good price.
I don’t think you could find a better company for your cover needs.

Dan installed an outstanding deck cover for us. He thoroughly explained our options for the cover, taking into account our wants and needs; samples were provided so we could look at each selection against the sun and clouds; and his estimate was fair.
The day of installation, he and his son worked tirelessly, professionally, and were detailed oriented. Even the screws were painted the same color as the supports.
We are very pleased with our deck cover and would recommend Exteriors West to all our friends.

If I could give Dan, the owner, more stars I would. He always took the time to go over the kinds of covers that he offers and was very patient with me as we discussed the details of what I wanted and answered all my questions.
He came over at 8:00, worked all day until done at 6:00 and did a fantastic job. He cleaned up when he was through and my porch was cleaner than before he came over. The cover is exactly as we discussed and really adds curb appeal to my house.

There wasn’t a place for TEN STARS or Dan would have earned it. Exteriors West is truly an outstanding company.
From first contact to completed project we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Dan was very helpful in helping us decide what we really wanted. Even though giving him a rough dimensional estimate of what we had in mind was all we were able to initially supply, Dan questioned us and gave us options that we wouldn’t have thought of and finally we came up with a plan that worked – we really felt like a team.
Even though our project seemed small (16′ x 10′ patio cover) he gave us and the project his full attention. And then the finished product: it exceeded our expectations!
We have read the other reviews and we would “ditto” each and every superlative given.

We contacted Exteriors West thru a web search. After some emails, phone calls and a visit by Dan, the owner, we entered into a contract for a 15′ x 28′ all acrylic top patio/deck cover.
Dan and his son Kyle did an EXCELLENT install in just one day. They worked together like a well-oiled machine during the entire time. And, very considerate of leaving the area cleaner when finished than it was when arriving on site.
Probably the best large purchase experience we have had…..and we are not youngsters. NO BUYERS REMORSE HERE AT ALL! We would love to show our unit to anyone interested, thru Dan , of course. The level of attention to detail in all regards is phenomenal

WOW!! I can’t say enough good things about the experience we had with Dan and Exterior West. We have always wanted a covered back deck and couldn’t be happier with the end result!
Dan and his son were prompt, professional, great communicators and just all-round nice people. We had a little problem with rain splashing in, and Dan came over immediately and fixed the problem. THEN, we had mentioned we may put up a metal beam support for an outside patio blind.
Dan sneaked over and installed it for us for free, with a big red bow on it and a nice card. I highly recommend Exteriors West.
Our patio is absolutely gorgeous and will be great for entertaining in inclement weather!

My second review on yelp as its the second time I’ve used Yelp. So far so good.
Its been a couple of weeks since this job was done and we’re loving the cover.
We used Dan (Exteriors West) to add a patio cover on the back of our house. We couldn’t be more happy with this decision and the patio cover is exactly what we wanted. Dan’s service was beyond what you will receive anywhere else and that’s what makes it worth calling him.
Dan came out to our house and explained the entire patio cover system to us. He never up sold us on product that we didn’t want or need. He spent extra time making sure that my wife knew exactly what she was getting and why one roof material was more expensive than the other or the benefit of one over the other.
We had Dan install a 14′ x 24′ cover which took him a day and part of the next morning. He probably would have finished in one day if we had left him alone to do the work. Dan wiped down the entire structure, then touched up the paint anywhere there was a knick in it. He cleaned up and even moved all of our patio furniture back under the cover too. It was left as if he was never there.
If you’re looking for a cover to be put up, I would highly recommend Dan as the guy to do it.
Invite him over to explain the ins and outs of the products he uses and listen to the small details that he puts into his work. You’ll be sold just as we were.

Dan Cockerham is a complete gem! We needed service on our deck railing. Dan was prompt, considerate of our needs balanced with our budget and a stickler for perfection. In addition to taking care of our immediate service needs he very graciously corrected several issues arising from our original installation eleven years ago (brand X installer, no longer in business) at no cost.
He installs the railing system we have every day. He couldn’t look at the less-than-stellar quality of the original installation so, he fixed it!
Attentive, considerate, conscientious, prompt, affordable. I couldn’t ask for more. I wish everyone in “the trades” were half as good as Dan.

I had Dan install a new cover over my front deck. Dan is highly professional and very knowledgeable – he did a fantastic job and I couldn’t be happier with the work and final product – installed in less than one day! I looked around a great deal prior to hiring Dan – very glad I did so.
